July’s Earthly Findings

KC Undercover, Raven’s Home & Girls Trip

KC Undercover is Zendaya’s TV show on Disney Channel. I usually don’t watch Disney, not because it’s a kid’s channel but, because it sucks. However, I had to check out KC Undercover because it has a black female lead; something TV was really lacking when I was watching Disney Channel consistently. Zendaya is such a joy to watch on the show because KC is a great role model. She fights crime, she smart and she values her education. It’s a great show for young girls to watch.

Raven’s Home is Raven Symone’s reboot for the show That’s So Raven. That’s So Raven was definitely one of the best shows on Disney when I was young and it had a lot of competition so that’s saying something. I really enjoyed the show and despite everything that happened with Raven, I’m glad that it’s back on TV. This is the closest younger generations have to having shows that were anywhere close to shows like Lizzie McGuire. I would recommend this show to That’s So Raven fans as well as kids because it has something for everyone and it’s hilarious!

Lastly, Girls Trip! Girls Trip was a phenomenal movie starring four black women and it was hilarious. I went to go see it twice, once in August and once in July when it came out. I loved it both times and I wouldn’t mind watching it again. It was truly a feel good film and definitely a film to see with your girlfriends. It starred Jada Pinkett-Smith, Queen Latifah and Regina Hall and Tiffany Haddish. Tiffany Haddish was definitely the breakout star because not only was she hilarious in the movie but, she was fiercely loyal and I think everyone in the theatre wanted a friend like her. She’s the new one on the scene and she definitely held her own among the seasoned stars. If you haven’t seen Girls Trip yet, go see it right away! Just like seeing Get Out, Girls Trip is an experience that’s even better in the theatre. I have my fingers crossed for a sequel!
